Vacation Oregon Coast Style

Last week my wife and I took some time off before our hectic wedding season kicks off and did the Tour De Oregon Coast.

We started out in Astoria at Fort George Brewery & Public House. All I can say is the brew is great and they serve up some stellar plates using local and organic ingredients.

The Astoria Bridge stretches 4.1 miles from Astoria, Oregon, across the mouth of the Columbia River, to Point Ellice, Washington. The bridge is designed to withstand some of the toughest attacks of nature, Wind gusts of 150 miles per hour from the fierce Pacific storms that occasionally batter the coast still leave the bridge with a safety factor. The concrete piers are built with an eye toward the river flood speed of nine miles per hour when whole trees sometime are swept along by the raging water.

The Astoria Column, is located on top of Oregon's highest hill is truly breathtaking.  You can take the windy stairs to the top of the column's deck and spectacular views of the city and its surrounding forest, mountains, rivers, bay and ocean await you!

We went down the 101 to our first overnight destination in Seaside, Oregon.

This is the view from our balcony.  We were warmly greeted by the sun!
After some R & R we were back on the 101 to Cannon Beach and then our favorite:

 The Tillamook Cheese Factory

Watching the blocks of cheese on the conveyor belt through the glass.

Samples of Colby, Sharp & our personal favorite Squeaky Cheese (Cheese Curds)

Standing in line for ice cream!
